ABOUT RED

Rodney “Red” Grant, a multi-talented comedian, actor, writer, and producer, was born and raised in Washington, D.C. With his infectious humor and unwavering work ethic, Red is currently hosting the Katt Williams’ Heaven on Earth Tour, delighting audiences nationwide.

His entertainment career began in 1996 on the legendary stage of New York’s Apollo Theatre, setting the tone for a successful journey in comedy and film. Red has appeared in acclaimed films such as American Hustle and First Sunday, sharing the screen with icons like Katt Williams, Ice Cube, and Tracy Morgan. He’s made his mark on television through memorable performances on Shaq’s All-Star Comedy Jam and Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back. His writing talents have shaped shows like Snoop Dogg’s Dogg After Dark and Comedy Central’s Roast of Flavor Flav. Red also captivated audiences with his own Showtime special Caught Red Handed and Comedy Central’s Red Grant Presents.

In addition to his on-screen success, Red has proven himself as a producer, writer, and director. In 2000, he debuted his first film, Family Reunion, through his production company, MOVIEOS, in partnership with Lionsgate Entertainment. His work behind the camera has led to numerous projects for the Viacom Network, showcasing his versatility across entertainment platforms.

A proud alumnus of Savannah State University, where he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (ΚΑΨ), Red also sits on the board of the Dunbar Alumni Federation. A graduate of D.C. Public Schools, Red has always been passionate about giving back to his community. He is an advocate for the reintroduction of vocational education in D.C., recognizing the critical role it plays in addressing educational and employment disparities and reducing crime. His commitment to youth empowerment is reflected in his initiatives like “Shoot Cameras,” a filmmaking program for students, and his non-profit organization, “Beyond Your Block,” which focuses on Social Emotional Learning and creating transformative opportunities for underserved youth.

Red’s impact extends beyond the entertainment industry. His 2022 mayoral campaign in Washington, D.C. garnered national attention for his third-party performance, earning him a second-place finish. Red continued his civic engagement and ran for At-Large Member of the D.C. City Council. Red advocates for equality and the unity of D.C.’s diverse communities. He envisions “One Community” where the strength and well-being of all residents are prioritized, bringing compassion and humanity back to the political landscape.
